John Harbaugh disagrees with Lamar Jackson’s take that Ravens overlooked the Titans prior to 2019 playoff loss

Lamar Jackson just recently made headlines when he stated the Baltimore Ravens overlooked the Tennessee Titans prior to Baltimore’s 28-14 upset loss to Tennessee in the divisional round of last year’s AFC playoffs. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh offered a reaction when inquired about Jackson’s comments throughout a virtual meeting with the media previously today. Simply put, Harbaugh didn’t concur with his quarterback

” I respect his opinion on it,” Harbaugh said, via Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. “If he sees it that method, that’s how he sees it. That doesn’t bother me. I do not think we took them lightly personally. I just think we didn’t play well.”

Jackson, the league’s reigning MVP, made the comments throughout an appearance on Complex’s Load Management podcast

” It’s any given Sunday. You can’t ignore no group, no opponent and that’s what we did,” Jackson said, through Nick Shook of NFL com. “So I’m looking forward to this 2020 season playing the Browns … Don’t ignore your opponents. They caught us by surprise. That’s all it was.”

While Jackson might not be entirely off base with his viewpoint, one can make a more engaging argument that the Titans merely played much better than the Ravens, who lost their first playoff game in your home for a second successive season. While Baltimore’s run defense allowed Derrick Henry to hurry for 195 backyards, Jackson was sacked four times while committing 3 turnovers. The turnovers eclipsed Jackson’s 365 hurrying yards and 143 passing lawns, as Tennessee scored two of their four touchdowns after requiring Jackson into devoting a turnover. The Titans’ other 2 touchdowns were scored after their defense stopped Jackson on developed quarterback operate on fourth-and-1 plays.

The playoff loss to the Titans exposed deficiencies that the Ravens have aggressively filled throughout the offseason Defensively, the Ravens went out and traded for perennial Pro Bowl protective end Calais Campbell They likewise drafted protective tackle Justin Madubuike along with linebackers Patrick Queen and Malik Harrison Anticipate Queen and Harrison to start immediately, with Madubuike getting associates as a backup behind Derek Wolfe

On the offending side of the ball, Baltimore used their second-round pick to pick running back J.K. Dobbins, who rushed for over 2,000 throughout his last season at Ohio State. The Ravens also prepared a set of receivers in Devin Duernay and James Proche On the offending line, Marshal Yanda’s offseason retirement has opened the door for Ben Powers to change Yanda as the Ravens’ starting right guard. And while neither player will likely start as novices, guards Ben Bradeson and Tyrie Phillips will likely get substantial playing time in reserve functions.

While their offseason moves do not guarantee anything as it connects to success in 2020, the Ravens have actually put themselves in a position to have success in the postseason after failing the previous two years. They’ve also included more pieces around Jackson, who is definitely motivated to prove that he can parlay his routine season success into postseason wins.
